It's been my experience that G&G, Echo 1, ICS and VFC are pretty solid bets. Things that use m4 mags normally allow you to share ammo on the field if you need some or if someone else needs some. A large percentage of players seem to use a gun that use those mags. Version 2 or 3 gearboxes have vast amounts of parts available if anything breaks or an upgrade is needed.

The G&P is a solid platform.

Once you get into the upper tier brands like G&P and VFC, the internals are going to be roughly equivalent quality. Therefore, find a rifle whose externals satisfy you. Internals will last a good while and can be replaced relatively cheaply. Externals, however, are always expensive.

If you need any extra m4 high caps just let me know. I am probably going to get a few mid caps so I wont be needing some high caps.

Masada's are an iffy venture. The Magpul version has proprietary parts and I think even a proprietary gearbox shell, and the A&K's internals are poop. If you want an M4, a really good option would be some of the Elite Force choices, G&G (lower "tier" but super easily upgraded and pretty light and sturdy), G&P is a strong contender (I really only hear about them when used as build material or in the European airsoft scene {they're pretty popular over there}), and VFC is just gorgeous (but that's just my prejudice). As far as AK's go (they're a better option than you might think; I've been wanting one for some time), you have the absofrickinglutely sweet Echo1 RedStar line. Those things are super tits. And actually, I can't really think of another high tier AK manufacturer, besides maybe CYMA (which honestly, are more starter tier; they're great guns, but they're just not...good...it's hard to explain). G&G also makes some nice AK's, but like I said, the crown jewel of AK's seems to be the Echo1 RedStar line. Hell, even the basic model is a thing of beauty.

I believe the newer masada's use a standard v2 but regardless I would shy away from them. If you want an ak, go with what phil said the red star line is just beautiful.

Don't forget about G&G's Top Tech line, those things are pretty amazing. They are like VFC, extremely high end good guns.

I know you said m4 but I see the VFC SCAR and it peaked my curiosity should I pursue my interest?

I think Lucas might be more familiar with the ins and outs of the SCAR internals. There's a unique wiring setup in the stock (not a bad thing, just different. it's actually pretty ingenious). VFC definitely makes the best SCAR out of the lot. And, for airsoft, it's basically an M4; same gearbox, parts, and magazines, so you're not so far off the beaten path that you won't find parts if anything goes wrong (which it probably won't with a VFC). That is, if you're talking the SCAR-L. The SCAR-H takes different magazines.

VFC scars are the best of the scars, but there are serious cons to consider. Namely, the internals are junk. The way they had to cram the parts in makes it living hell to work on. The deal-breaker, for me, though, is the hopup. The hopup is proprietary and an absolute piece of garbage. Without a finely tuned fixed hop like an r-hop, you will have subpar accuracy. Plus, I hate how wobbly that boot of a stock is.

Unfortunately, the hopup is proprietary to the scar. The design itself is flawed, so the only improvement that can realistically be made is to circumvent it with a fixed hop.

I use magpul E-mags (good luck finding those [as in, you can't]) and elite force 140 midcaps, which work well.
