A revolver as a sidearm? Empty
PostSubject: A revolver as a sidearm?   A revolver as a sidearm? EmptyWed Oct 09, 2013 10:19 am

As I've mentioned to some of you, I have been tossing around the idea of getting a gas revolver as a sidearm. Although a revolver is less practical than a normal gas pistol or AEP, I think it would suffice as a sidearm and would be loads more fun. tongue I've picked out Tanaka's new Colt Python as a possible choice. It has the right fps for a sidearm and stores 15 rounds, about the same as a single stack 1911. The only problem is that I'd have to order it from Japan, which isn't a huge deal, but it does warrant further consideration.

So, what do you guys think? Too crazy? Too impractical?

heck yeah! As a sidearm I can't think of anything cooler than a big chromed out revolver. It will have to be only a sidearm though. Not enough rounds to use as a primary, more like an O sh$%$% option when your primary goes down and you need to get away quick. I've shot an airsoft revolver before. It seemed pretty accurate and consistent.

As far as ordering overseas goes you should be fine. I ordered my most recent pistol from eHobbyAsia and it got to me quicker than if I had ordered it from ASGI or EVIKE (under a week!!!).

Yeah, my thinking was I'd only use it if my primary was down or I was within MED. The Tanaka is nice because it has an adjustable hop-up and can be reloaded quickly with a speed loader. Unfortunately, all the chrome and midnight blue finishes are sold out: black is all that's left. Crying or Very sad On the bright side, since the Python has the gas reservoir in the cylinder, Tanaka made the grip identical to the real Colt, so I can use real steel grips if I so choose!

Anyway, I'll probably order it in the next couple of days. I'm gonna go with the 6-inch. Go big or go home and all that. Laughing  I'll have to start looking for a holster I like. I'd kill for a replica of Captain Mal's holster! Very Happy
