PostSubject: TM P226 vs WE P226 vs TM Five-seveN   Mon Aug 12, 2013 9:47 am

Hey guys,
I'm going to try to pick up a GBB for woodland airsoft with you guys. I want to learn to use a pistol vs automatic/longer ranged guns, because I think it will make me a better shooter and may be useful later in life when all I've got is a pistol. So these pistols will be used as a primary for my pistol only loadout and a secondary for my other regular loadout. That being said money is not too much of an issue. Most folks would be appalled that I would spend enough on a pistol that I could have bought an mid priced AEG, but when I want to use it as a primary then the expense is worth it. I have narrowed it down to these three pistols.

SIG P226
The P226 was my first airsoft gun and I still love the way it feels in my hand. It aims the most naturally of any pistol which is going to be important when my primary runs out of ammo and I need to get off some shots with it quickly.

FN Five-seveN

I've always been a big P90 fan and the Five-seveN is companion pistol to the P90.

Here is the ups and downs I've come up with so far.

TM P226
Pros
More accurate than WE P226
Fits Serpa Holsters without modification
Cons
Low Fps (longer Time to Target (TTT) and less chance that target will feel the hit with clothing and armor)
Plastic- may be less durable to banging around in the woods than metal WE version
Can't take propane- must use duster gas

WE P226
Pros
Full Metal- more durable externally than TM plastic version
Highest fps of all three- shortest TTT and hardest hitting for thick clothing and armor hits
Takes Propane- readily available and used in my G39
Cheapest
Cons
Least accurate
Least internally durable
Serpa will have to be modified for good fit

TM Five-seveN
Pros
Most accurate of all three
Longest range of all three
Fits serpa without modification
Coolest looking- Splinter Cell/COD (Hey I admit it, lots of the appeal of airsoft is to look cool)
Cons
Low fps (long TTT and softer hitting than WE P226)
Not as durable plastic externals
Must take duster gas not propane

Thanks for your help.

I like accuracy and range more than anything so I would go with the Five-seveN. Duster gas is pretty easy to come by as well so I wouldn't think that would be a problem.

Cool. I've searched the almighty google and put up a thread on ASR to compare the Five-seveN and P226 by TM to see which one has better accuracy and range. We'll see what it comes up with.
