PostSubject: Upgrade   Mon Jan 30, 2012 12:06 pm

I am wondering whether to order a lithium battery for my M4 to upgrade its fire rate. I currently use an 8.4 but a 9.6 will not fit into the space allotted for the battery. My only other option is to go for a lithium battery but i am concerned that the upgrade could do serious harm to the gun. Any thoughts?

Without modifying the gun in any other way, yea, you stand a pretty good chance of damaging the gun through wear. A cheap MOSFET unit will help a lot, but your internals will still be under plenty of stress from the rate of fire and may not be able to handle it without farther internal upgrades. However, I have seen stock guns handle LIPOs fine before.

As long as you dont get one of those crazy WTF 54V monsters, your standard 11.4v lipo can be pretty taxing to a gun without some upgrades, but you can always go with a 9.6v lipo instead, it will give you around the same fire rate as a regular 9.6 would but will just have much more Mah than a NiCad of the same size.

You know I'm not entirely sure if there are 9.6v lipos, I think the next lowest might be 7.4v which roughly translates to 9.6v in a normal battery.

You can find deals on any kind of battery you want to get a hold off, almost whenever you need them. No reason to jump on that deal unless you want the battery.

There are 11.1V lipos and then there are 7.4V lipos. There is not an "in-between" lipo. I use a 7.4V in my M16 and I get plenty of kills with it.

edit: $35 for an 11.1V is "average". You can find lower if you look. My 7.4V 3300 MaH was $30 iirc.

there is such thing as a 9.6 lipo, you might have to dig for on that will fit your gun because they aren't made for airsoft but yes they do exist

I would get a 7.4V 20C(or more) battery. Its all you need, and it wont hurt your gun.
